Interested in becoming a member of the North Carolina Pride band? Here’s a bit more information:

Our group ranges in age from early 20’s to 60 and over; we are a community group, and our membership is reflective of the community.  We ask that you are familiar with your instrument, but we welcome a variety of skill levels; there are no auditions.

NCPMB rehearses approximately one to two times per month on Saturday afternoons in preparation for our regular events.  At this time our regular events include an annual Pride celebration, as well as an annual spring concert, though we may add events and rehearsals throughout the year, as needed.  Rehearsals have traditionally been held in Durham, North Carolina, though we are in the process of transitioning our rehearsal space to Greensboro, North Carolina.

Joining the band means making a commitment to attend rehearsals, performances, and participating in fundraising events as needed.

There are no dues, though as the group continues to grow, we may incorporate annual dues into the membership process.  At this point, we ask that you cover the cost for your uniform – a hat and shirt – which is $40.

If you’re interested in joining our group, please send us an email at NCPMB.info@gmail.com.

For Christmas this year I’m giving myself a year of music lessons. I’ve studied various instruments throughout my fifty five year life with limited success. I think this was mostly due to a lack of a goal and support. I would like to give myself a goal of becoming good enough to march with you in next year’s PrideFest Parade.

Just one question: What instrument do you need, because it really doesn’t matter to me.

    Thanks,
    Jim

      Hi Jim,

We’re always in need of trombones; seems to be something we’re lacking pretty consistently. But if low brass wouldn’t be your first choice, then how about something like clarinet? We’re always notoriously low on both, actually. If you’d like to talk about this a bit more, just email me at ncpmb.info@gmail.com – I play both clarinet and trombone, and I might be able to help you decide which would be the better fit. Either way, we’d love to have your participate next year.

Hope to hear from you soon,
      Max
